Is transportation available to personal doctor appointments and/or family events?
Yes, scheduled transportation is available in our community bus to doctor appointments, events outside the community and shopping. Trips outside of Greenville County may require additional fees.

Does The Palmettos participate in the Medicaid Program?
No, The Palmettos accepts private funds only.  However, Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for some financial assistance through the VA.  To find out more call 1-877-222-8387 or visit www.va.gov/healtheligibility. We also accept Long Term Care Insurance for those who have coverage.

Does The Palmettos allow pets?
Yes, residents may bring a small cat or dog to The Palmettos to live with them as long as the resident can care for the pet independently.  Pets will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

What can be added or changed in the apartments to make them feel home-like?
Blinds, light fixtures, cabinetry and flooring are the only items that cannot be changed in the apartments. Residents are encouraged to bring furniture and other items from home to make their apartment as home like as possible.  We ask that the arrangement and amount of furniture be done so that there are no tripping hazards.

How often are the apartments cleaned?
Each apartment is thoroughly cleaned once a week.  Trash and dirty towels are removed daily.  Spot cleaning will be done as needed.

Is there internet access available to the residents of The Palmettos?
The Palmettos has a wireless internet system that can be accessed throughout the community.

What utilities are provided?
All utilities are included in the monthly fees including phone, cable and wireless internet.

How long can I stay in an Assisted Living Facility before moving to a Nursing Home?
Assisted Living facilities are licensed and regulated by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.  Our regulations state that a resident of an assisted living facility must be able to perform one Activity of Daily Living (bathing, dressing, feeding) and not need the services of a licensed nurse in order to remain in an assisted living facility.  This being said, residents are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  At The Palmettos, we believe that open communication is vital to the care of our residents.  We will always notify our families about any change in condition and do everything we can to extend the time that our residents can stay in their “home” within the regulations of DHEC.
